Wainwright Guides to the Lake District Fells
Ever since Alfred Wainwright published his first pictorial guide to the Lakeland fells more than fifty years ago these exquisitely illustrated guides have been treasured by lovers of walking in the Lake District. As he himself said toward the end of his life things change, even on the mountains, and it became necessary to bring them up to date. Chris Jesty (who had previously assisted Wainwright with some of his other books) has done a marvellous job.

The Alfred Wainwright Story – in his own words
For the story of how the Wainwright guides, the preeminent series of guides to Lake District walks, came to be written what better than to get it from the author’s own words in Memoirs of a Fellwanderer.
