Lake District Industries
Industrial activity down the generations has made much of the Lake District landscape what it is today. Centuries of forestry and sheep farming along with the enclosure and improvement of the land have been a major factor generally throughout the region, and on a more local basis industries such as mining and quarrying have both sustained past populations and added to the fascination for visitors today.
